Today, Meta has announced the private messaging app WhatsApp is available for iPad and iPadOS for the first time ever. The App Store release notes don’t mention the change, but the App Store does show that the iPad app is available. The new iPad app will also include support for Split View, Slide Over, and Picture in Picture.
Meta has a long history of ignoring iPad users within its ecosystem of apps such as Instagram, but it seems they are finally bringing their apps over to the iPad ecosystem.
