After the announcement of tvOS 26 during Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote today, it has now been discovered that the newest version of tvOS will still be compatible on one of the oldest Apple TV models.
The Apple TV HD appears to still be getting tvOS software updates from Apple. However, its features will be limited compared to newer models such as the second and third generation Apple TV 4K that will also get the update.
This fall is when tvOS 26 is released to the public, according to Apple.
It’s a big move for Apple if you consider the fact that the Apple TV HD was originally released in 2015, meaning that Apple has been updating and supporting the Apple TV HD for almost 10 years.
Apple did originally discontinue the Apple TV HD product back in October 2022.
