The final WWDC spearheaded by Tim Cook was a good one, with specific focus on Safety and Trust, Apple Intelligence and the standard platform updates. Apple was light on music this time, instead playing more music during the intro and main product demonstrations, instead of during transitions between products and locations as they have done before.
Apple announced an overhauled Siri, with Siri AI and other Apple Intelligence features, which are made to harness the power of AI and the ability to do complex tasks with ease, such as describing an extension for Safari, photo repositioning, and more. These AI features are taking a little while to figure out, as some features are available for all supported devices, whilst some are only available on newer models. Users in EU countries may also be completely unable to utilize any of these features, based on the Digital Markets Act.
WWDC 26 also featured shorter product showcases on watchOS and visionOS, with the main focus being on macOS and iOS, particularly with the aforementioned AI features and Child Safety implementations, which have been introduced. tvOS was not mentioned in the broadcast at all. This WWDC was reported by some to feel “different” than previous streams due to the modified schedule of the pre-recorded stream.
