A few hours back, Apple started rolling out the first betas of the newly announced iOS 27 update for iPhone to developers, which include improvements to Liquid Glass, a new Siri AI, new Screen Time options, and more, announced at today’s WWDC event.

Apple is expected to launch a foldable iPhone in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, which will most likely be called the “iPhone Ultra”. Several changes, both visible and in code, point more towards the existence of the upcoming foldable iPhone, including:

  1. Notifications on iOS 27 now come in from the top left corner instead of the center. We all know that Apple loves uniformity across devices, so this could be a sign of a foldable iPhone incoming.

  2. iPhone Mirroring on macOS Golden Gate can be resized to any aspect ratio. For it to work, the app needs to be compiled in a way to support dynamic sizes, as announced in the Platforms State of the Union event.
  3. Users running iOS 27 will finally be able to use Health, Fitness, and Now Playing in Apple Music in Landscape mode, similar to iPadOS.
  4. Finally, the iOS 27 framework references two keywords, including “foldState” and “angleDegrees” along with a new MG key for the total number of built-in displays, as noted by @samhenrigold on X.

iOS 27 is set to be released alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series and the foldable iPhone this fall. Are you excited to see Apple’s first foldable iPhone?
