When the iPhone XR went on preorder last Friday, Apple added a new charger to its site, a USB-C charger for the Apple Watch.
The charger has not changed much with everything else still functioning the same way except you can now plug the charger into a USB-C port rather than a USB-A port. This has been something that Apple Watch users have wanted for a long time since they can now charge their Apple Watch using a MacBook and possibly the upcoming iPad which is rumoured to have a USB-C port.
The new charger costs $29 and the cable is 0.3 m long. This is the only cable length that is currently available for the USB-C variant, unlike the USB-A which comes in 1 m and 2 m lengths. The charging speed is the same as the USB-A cable since the induction charger has not been altered.
This new cable could be more evidence that the new iPad will have a USB-C port instead of the lightning port that Apple is currently using for all iPad models.
