RIP Steve Jobs

On this day eight years ago, Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jobs is one of the biggest visionaries in American and world history. He was the guy who co-founded a company that today is worth over $1 trillion dollars. He was also the guy who got to be on big product projects like the Macintosh, iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad.

When Jobs was fired from Apple in 1985, he went on to create a new computer company in the late-80s called “NeXT,” which was a computer company designed to create and design computers for colleges.

Additionally, he went on to be a co-founder of Pixar, which is now known for some of the greatest Disney movies of all-time, such as the Toy Story movie series, Cars, Wall-E, The Incredibles and many others.

In 1997, Apple bought out NeXT and Jobs came back to Apple, immediately becoming CEO once again. From there, you could say that the rest was history.

Jobs went on to work on projects such as the iMac, which was considered a big deal at the time for both its design and the fact that it was one of the few computers on the market that was all-in-one and that consumers could buy in different colors. Even some schools across the country designed their computer labs with iMacs, with the colors matching the school’s colors.

Other products that were released when jobs returned were the iBook (now known as the MacBook), multiple versions of the iMac, iPod, iPhone and the iPad.

When it comes to software, Apple’s devices were innovative and different because of the software that ran on them. The iPod (excluding the iPod Touch and iPod Shuffle) was successful because the software was able to run on an innovative click-wheel, that only Apple was doing at the time.

The iPhone and iPad have been successful because both of them have functions where the majority of them work on an all-touch display. This was not too much of a thing before Apple took over the smartphone and tablet market.

Most importantly, while Jobs was at Apple, they were always doing everything they could to be fresh, edgy and different from the rest of the competition. Because of that, Jobs was known as the guy who knew what you wanted before you knew that you wanted it.

Ever since the death of Steve Jobs, there have been two major motion picture films that have been released that are about the life of Jobs and the legacy he left behind. Those films are 2013’s Jobs, which stars Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs and the 2015 film Steve Jobs that has Michael Fassbender playing the role of Steve Jobs (which is one of our streaming picks that we recommend you watch today in tribute to Jobs).

Overall, even though Apple seems to be a completely different company than what it used to be, we still miss Steve Jobs and the legacy that he still carries at Apple and throughout our society.

We thank Steve for what he did and how he truly changed our world for the better. If it was not for him…well, this website may not even exist.
