In a new report, Apple will adopt under-display Face ID on 2023 iPhones, thus removing the notch.
In a memo obtained by MacRumors, Ming-Chi Kuo ”” Reliable Apple analyst ”” is claiming that in 2023, Apple will remove the notch on the iPhone, with Face ID being under the display.
Apple is rumored to drop the notch and add a hole-punch design in 2022 iPhones, like the SE.
Earlier this year, McGuire Wood (Jioriku) said that the 2021 iPhone will sport an under-display Touch ID, but this is the first time we hear of an under-display Face ID feature to come. A later report claims that Apple is already working on under-display Touch ID.
Since the iPhone X in 2017, Touch ID has been gone on iPhones except for the iPhone SE (2nd Generation), replaced with Face ID, and while it is still used by millions of people, many are stick with Touch ID iPhones until the feature comes back. Cupertino could be on its way to add both features to the iPhones for the next couple of years.
