Instagram has launched Playback 2021, a feature you can access to see your year-in-review via stories you posted on the platform.
On Thursday, Instagram launched the feature to users. The company notes to The Verge that the year-in-review feature is only available for the next several weeks. And that users can already access it when entering the app.
Playback 2021 can be accessed by going to the Instagram app and seeing a banner at the top of the feed that reads:
“To help you look back on your special moments this year, we created a Playback from your 2021 stories. You can choose to add or remove stories before sharing.”
Playback 2021 will generate photos and videos that users shared as stories throughout the year, with the addition of adding and/or removing ones that they see fit. This means if you don’t like the story Instagram added to your year-in-review, you can remove it if you want.
From what is announced, Playback is a replacement to Instagram’s Top 9 feature that was massively used years before. Top 9 was a year-in-review feature just like Playback however, it let users see their best posts rather than stories. Instagram now sees Stories as the most used function in the social app.
Instagram is not the only app giving users a year-in-review feature, both Apple Music and Spotify launched their Replay 2021 and Wrapped 2021 features respectively to all users.
Also, The Meta-owned platform is working on a new chronological feed, as well as a fresh new user interface.
