We’ve been expecting Apple to announce the new iPad Pros and iPad Airs this month, and this time, “Instant Digital” came out with another report that the upcoming iPad Pros will feature thinner bezels. Both the 11-inch and the 12.9-inch models will have bezels that will be 7.12mm and 7.08mm thin, respectively, when you exclude the metal frame around the glass. This means that those bezels would be between 10% and 15% thinner than the ones found in the current iPad Pro’s design.
We previously reported on what the dimensions of the upcoming models would be based on 9to5Mac’s report:
- Upcoming 11-inch iPad Pro ”“ 249.7 mm x 177.5 mm x 5.1 mm
- Upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro ”“ 281.5 mm x 215.5 mm x 5.0 mm
Based on these alleged dimensions, they may be the thinnest iPad Pros that we’ll ever see, even thinner than the thinnest iPod ever sold, which was the iPod nano (7th generation). This could also mean that we’ll see a slightly larger display on both sizes to make the bezels thinner.
Other features we’re expecting for the iPad Pro are the M3 chip, OLED displays, and redesigned accessories such as the Magic Keyboard with an aluminum base and larger trackpad. We also expect the iPad Air to be announced with a new additional, larger 12.9-inch model. As we’re nearing the end of March, Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, and other sources expect both models to be announced as soon as March 26.
