Apple releases tvOS 26.2 with enhanced TV Profiles feature and “Kids Mode”

Along with yesterday’s rollout of version 26.2 for all Apple platforms, Apple released tvOS 26.2 for both Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K models, and this release brings two new enhancements that families and guests will love.

You already have the ability to create multiple profiles on Apple TV, but with tvOS 26.2, you do not need to have an Apple account in order to set up a new profile anymore. Additionally, with the latest software update, you now have a dedicated kids mode that allows you to set parental controls on what kids are allowed to watch based on TV or film ratings.

Apple posted the release notes in its support article:

What’s new in tvOS 26.2

This update makes it easier for everyone to create their own profile for the Apple TV app to enjoy their favorite movies and shows, and includes performance and stability improvements.

Apple TV app profiles

  • Profiles can now be added for family and friends without an Apple Account, enabling their own Watchlist and the ability to explore movies and shows just for them.
  • Age-suitable content across video providers automatically appears for kid profiles.
  • Restrictions can be set on kid profiles to limit access to age-appropriate content.

Updating to tvOS 26.2 is simple, as they just need to head to Settings > System > Software Update to install the latest software. With tvOS 26.2, guests and children will enjoy the unparalleled integration and the latest features that Apple TV has to offer.
