As the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to engulf the world population, many retailers and finance organizations have begun embracing contactless payment methods as a safer alternative to traditional payment methods. The latest company to gain Apple Pay support is a popular online money transfer service called TransferWise.Â
[Update] TransferWise has updated its website to reflect the confirmed availability of Apple Wallet compatibility for TransferWise MasterCard.
TransferWise offers a convenient international payment solution in the form of an iOS app that enables users to quickly send, receive, and spend money using a variety of different currency options including USD, AUD, EUR, GBP, NZD, and PLN with minimal conversion fees.Â
TransferWise has long offered its users the option to request a physical TransferWise debit MasterCard capable of holding separate balances for 50+ currencies on one all-inclusive account. According to a now removed reddit post depicting a leaked promotional image from Transferwise, the company is reportedly planning to allow customers the ability to digitally store their TransferWise MasterCard in the Wallet app on iOS. Transferwise specifies in the ad that users will be able to use their Transferwise card with Apple Pay:
“A fast, easy, and secure way to pay online, in apps, or in person. Pay wherever you see the contactless symbol or Apple Pay mark. Or simply check out with Apple Pay online without entering your details.“
While it is not clear exactly when Transferwise plans to offer this feature to its customers, it is promising to see more and more companies prioritize contactless payment methods such as Apple Pay. In addition to its contactless nature which could help users safeguard against contracting coronavirus, Apple Pay offers unparalleled security and impeccable convenience compared to more conventional payment methods.Â
