It’s the end of the year and rumors and leaks for the next Apple products have already begun. Apple is expected to launch five new Mac products in 2022 including an Apple silicon Mac Pro.
In his latest edition of the Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg is reporting that Apple plans to launch numerous Mac machines next year, including a silicon Mac Pro which we still didn’t see in addition to a new entry-level MacBook Pro. Here is the list:
- An all-new Mac Pro powered by an Apple Silicon chip
- An updated entry-level MacBook Pro
- A major revamp to the Macbook Air featuring the M2 chip
- A high-end 24-inch iMac to replace the current machine
- An updated Mac mini
Rumors and speculation regarding a redesigned Mac Pro were previously noted by Gurman in the past, as well as MacBook Air, iMac, and Mac mini. However, the entry-level MacBook Pro for 2022 is a new add-on. Since Apple unveiled its latest 2021 MacBook Pros with an all-new design, bigger displays, returning ports, and no Touch Bar, the 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro has been in an odd spot, with numerous consumers questioning its discontinuation. But according to Gurman, Apple is insisting on selling more entry-level MacBook Pros with an upcoming 2022 model.
Regarding the MacBook Air, the machine is expected to feature Apple’s improved M2 chip with a revamped design and new colors to match the current 2021 iMac. A new Mac Pro with Apple Silicon will be a very big step for the Cupertino-based giant for its transition from Intel chips to ARM-based silicon SoCs.
Apple is not stopping with improving the MacBook, especially in the display department. Reports from The Elec states that Apple is developing OLED MacBooks for the future, in addition to Research & Development towards Micro-LED.
Finally, Gurman is also noting that next year, Apple is planning to introduce an improved Apple Watch SE including a rugged version.
