Microsoft has recently updated Microsoft Excel in Microsoft Office that brings full support of the app to Silicon Macs.

This means that any Mac running an M1 chip (and eventually higher/newer versions) can get native support for Microsoft Excel. That list includes the Apple M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, and is specifically supported for the Power Query feature of Excel.

According to the announcements from Microsoft, “Power Query in Excel for Mac is now natively supported on Apple Silicon processors. If you previously used Rosetta emulator to run Excel, you may now disable it and run Excel natively on your devices.”

The updates are available to those running Office 365, Office 2019 for Mac, Office LTSC 2021 for Mac and Office 2021 for Mac, which are available as a one-time purchase from a retail store or through a volume licensing agreement. If you’re looking for ready Excel templates compatible with Mac, check them out here.
