As we are closing out this month, we have yet to see any new iPad models. Mark Gurman initially reported that Apple would release those models this month via a press release; however, he later reported those releases to be pushed to next month. He now has to break the bad news that we may have to wait even longer than we initially hoped as he now reports that those announcements have been pushed back further to May.

One factor that’s contributing to the delay has been that the more advanced OLED panels require “complex new manufacturing techniques” as there have been several production delays with the smaller 11-inch model according to a few other reports.

Additionally, Gurman has reported that Apple has been developing a special variant of the iPadOS 17.4 software release that will be optimized for the upcoming iPad Pro models, so deploying the final release to those models in factories will take several weeks.

The next iPad Pros are expected to feature OLED panels, the M3 chip, as well as the new Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. The new iPad Air is expected to feature the M2 chip and an additional larger 12.9-inch model for the first time.
