Well, another week went by, and it certainly was a huge week for the Mac, so let’s do a quick recap of what Apple announced over the past week.

  • Apple introduced the all-new iMac, which is now powered by the M4 chip. The M4 iMac also brought bolder colors, a 12MP Center Stage Camera, a new nano-textured display option, and Thunderbolt 4 on all models with USB-C ports. The new iMac and existing Mac Pro also came bundled with Magic Accessories with USB-C.

  • Apple introduced the smaller, yet mightier Mac mini, now powered by M4 and M4 Pro. The new Mac mini features an all-new set of connectivity ports with two USB-C ports and three Thunderbolt ports on the back. The M4 Pro model’s ports got even upgraded with Thunderbolt 5 and can now connect up to three 6K displays. Thanks to the smaller design, the Mac mini is Apple’s first carbon-neutral Mac.

  • Apple introduced the all-new MacBook Pro, powered by M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max. The base M4 model gets even more value than ever before, offering many of the same features that the higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch Pro models have had, including having three Thunderbolt 4 ports, Space Black finish, and support for two external displays. Models with both M4 Pro and M4 Max got Thunderbolt 5 as well. Just like with the M4 iMac, the new MacBook Pros have a new nano-texture display option and a 12MP Center Stage camera.

  • Finally, the biggest surprise is that not only did the new M4 chip start with 16GB of unified memory standard, but Apple also bumped the starting memory configuration of the M2/M3 MacBook Air models to 16GB.

With everything that Apple announced, this is definitely to upgrade to a new Mac, whether you’re still on an Intel machine or you’re coming from a PC.

Other news you may have missed include:

  • Apple rolled out macOS 15.1, iOS 18.1, and iPadOS 18.1 with the first features for Apple Intelligence. Other software updates included visionOS 2.1 and watchOS 11.1.
  • Hearing health features for AirPods Pro 2 also came out with iOS/iPadOS 18.1.
  • On an Apple Pay-related note, on a special promo, you can get up to 5% in Daily Cash on purchases in early 2025.
  • Apple’s Tap to Pay is also expanding into more European countries.
  • And even more surprisingly, Apple acquired its photo editing company Pixelmator on Friday. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for this acquisition, especially for pro photographers to take their skills to the next level, especially with this new generation of Macs.

That is all for this week, stay tuned for more news when Apple launches the M4 Macs on Friday, November 8.
