MacBook Neo features matte Apple logo

The Apple logo on the lid is obviously the defining feature of any MacBook. However, if we take a look at today’s MacBook lineup, not all Apple logos are created equal.

You may not know this, but the Apple logo on the lid of MacBook Neo is actually debossed and matte as pointed out by Daring Fireball, and even BasicAppleGuy, on X, even called it as he was analyzing the product’s teaser from Tim Cook on X. This design detail differentiates the MacBook Neo from the MacBook Air, which has a shiny, glossy Apple logo that’s color-matched to the color of the MacBook Air. The MacBook Pro actually has a black, glossy Apple logo, whether you get it in silver or black.

However, if you’re a MacBook user for a long time, you may agree that the most nostalgic feature about Apple’s MacBooks was the glowing Apple logo on the back. However, starting in 2015, Apple introduced the 12-inch Retina MacBook with an all-new design, and it was the first that did away with the glowing Apple logo in favor of the shiny Apple logo that’s in line with iPhones and iPads back in the day. That shiny Apple logo also color-matched the MacBook’s color. The controversial MacBook Pro that came out in 2016 borrowed the same design cues from the 12-inch MacBook, including the shiny Apple logo that was color-matched.

The initial hands-on and unboxing videos of the MacBook Neo are now live, and this laptop is set to launch tomorrow.
